Click on the name of the site in the left pane of the iWeb window.

There are three sections of the FTP publishing settings to configure....

1. Site Publishing Settings

  1. Publish to: FTP Server

  2. Site name: Not technically critical - this entry is whatever your site is named in iWeb. Keep in mind that this name will display in the URL in a web browser. So choose sensibly!

  3. Contact e-mail: Not critical. Can be left blank.

2. FTP Server Settings

  1. Server address: ftp.schools.nsw.edu.au

  2. User name:  Your school username, eg somewhere-p

  3. Password:  as per your FTP account

  4. Directory/Path: /internet/

3. Website URL

URL: Your school’s web address

Testing.....

After entering the info above, click on the Test Connection button - you should see the following window....

If not, one of the settings in the window is incorrect or missing.

Strange Characters

If your published site includes some strange Latin text characters, this is due to the configuration of the DET web server.

You will need to create a small (invisible) file called htaccess in a text editor and upload it to the DET server, in the intranet folder.

Check out this quick guide to solving the problem.
